Have you imported from China recently? Have you heard from the freight forwarder that shipments have been delayed due to weather conditions?
This September has not been peaceful, with a typhoon almost every week. Typhoon No. 11 "Yagi" generated on September 1 made landfall four times in a row, making it the strongest autumn typhoon to land in China since meteorological records began, bringing large-scale storms and rainstorms to southern South China. Shenzhen's Yantian Port and Shekou Port also issued information on September 5 to stop all delivery and pick-up services.
On September 10, Typhoon No. 13 "Bebinca" was generated again, becoming the first strong typhoon to land in Shanghai since 1949, and also the strongest typhoon to land in Shanghai since 1949. The typhoon hit Ningbo and Shanghai head-on, so Shanghai Port and Ningbo Zhoushan Port also issued notices to suspend container loading and unloading.
On September 15, Typhoon No. 14 "Pulasan" was generated and is expected to land on the coast of Zhejiang from the afternoon to the evening of the 19th (strong tropical storm level). At present, Shanghai Port has planned to suspend the empty container loading and unloading operations from 19:00 on September 19, 2024 to 08:00 on September 20. Ningbo Port has notified all terminals to suspend loading and unloading operations from 16:00 on September 19. The resumption time will be notified separately.
It is reported that there may be a typhoon every week before China's National Day. Typhoon No.15 "Soulik" will pass through the southern coast of Hainan Island or land on Hainan Island in the future, causing rainfall in South China to exceed expectations.
Senghor Logistics reminds you that the peak period for shipments is before the Chinese National Day holiday, and every year there will be a scene of vehicles queuing to enter the warehouse and being blocked. And this year, there will be the impact of typhoons during this period. Please make import plans in advance to avoid delays in cargo transportation and delivery.
