Australia's destination ports are severely congested, causing long delays after sailing. The actual port arrival time may be twice as long as normal. The following times are for reference:
The DP WORLD union’s industrial action against DP World terminals continues until January 15. Currently, the waiting time for berthing at Brisbane pier is about 12 days, the waiting time for berthing in Sydney is 10 days, the waiting time for berthing in Melbourne is 10 days, and the waiting time for berthing in Fremantle is 12 days.
PATRICK: Congestion at Sydney and Melbourne piers has increased significantly. On-time ships have to wait for 6 days, and off-line ships have to wait for more than 10 days.
HUTCHISON: The waiting time for berthing at Sydney Pier is 3 days, and the waiting time for berthing at Brisbane Pier is about 3 days.
VICT: Off-line ships will wait for about 3 days.
DP World expects average delays at its Sydney terminal to be 9 days, with a maximum of 19 days, and a backlog of nearly 15,000 containers.
In Melbourne, delays are expected to average 10 days and up to 17 days, with a backlog of more than 12,000 containers.
In Brisbane, delays are expected to average 8 days and range up to 14 days, with a backlog of nearly 13,000 containers.
In Fremantle, average delays are expected to be 10 days, with a maximum delay of 18 days, and a backlog of nearly 6,000 containers.
After receiving the news, Senghor Logistics will give feedback to the customers as soon as possible and understand the customers’ future shipment plans. Given the current situation, we recommend that customers ship high-urgency goods in advance, or use air freight to transport these goods from China to Australia.
We also remind customers that before Chinese New Year is also the peak season for shipments, and factories will also take holidays in advance before the Spring Festival holiday. Considering the local congestion situation at the destination ports in Australia, we recommend that customers and suppliers prepare goods in advance and strive to ship the goods before the Spring Festival, so as to reduce losses and costs under the above force majeure.
